W. Byron Dunn
Mr. Dunn began his 32 years of service with Lone Star in 1975 as a sales trainee. He was He was promoted to Vice President, Sales in 1986, Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing in 1991, and promoted to President and CEO in August of 1997, where he served until he left the company in June 2007.
Mr. Dunn received a Bachelor of Arts in Management and Marketing from Texas Christian University (1975), and an Executive MBA from the Edwin L. Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University (1986). Mr. Dunn currently serves on the Board of Directors of Quicksilver Resources, Inc., a publicly traded (NYSE) natural gas and crude oil exploration and production company. He has previously served on the Board of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) and continues to serve on the finance and nominating committee. He has served on the Board of a number of industry associations including the American Petroleum Institute (API), National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA), and Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI). In addition, he is a member of the Secretary of Energy’s National Petroleum Council, the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO), the Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association (PESA), Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association (OIPA) and is the immediate past chairman of API’s General Membership Committee. He is also a former President of the Dallas Petroleum Club, former Chairman of the Dallas Wildcat Committee, and belongs to the Fort Worth Wildcatters, Oklahoma Energy Explorers and is an active member and serves as Chairman of the Dallas American Heart Association Board of Directors.
W. Steve Fowler
Mr. Fowler spent his entire 32 year professional career at Lone Star, beginning as a sales trainee and progressing to the position of Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing prior to his departure in September 2007. During his tenure at Lone Star Steel he had responsibilities for all of the commercial activity of the company.
Mr. Fowler received a Bachelor Degree in Marketing from Stephen F. Austin University in 1975. He is a member of the Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association, the Independent Petroleum Association of America, American Petroleum Institute, National Association of Steel Pipe Distributors, National Ocean Industries Association, Texas Alliance of Energy Products and Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners.
D. Patrick McPherson Mr. McPherson has over 32 years of oilfield experience, including the last 19 years at Lone Star, where he had responsibilities for all of Lone Star’s international commercial activities. Prior to leaving the company in August 2007, Mr. McPherson was the Vice President and Managing Director of Lone Star Steel International. Before joining Lone Star, he worked in the drilling services business for Schlumberger and Smith International, achieving the positions of country manager in Italy and Saudi Arabia.
Mr. McPherson received his Bachelor of Arts from Southern Methodist University in 1975 and his MBA from SMU in 1987. Mr. McPherson is an Associate Board member of the SMU Cox School of Business as well as a fellow in the Society of International Business Fellows. Mr. McPherson is also a past board member of the North Haven YMCA.
Russell A. Fisher Mr. Fisher spent 26 years in Sales and Marketing of Line Pipe between Lone Star Steel and Tex-Tube Company. Mr. Fisher began his career as a Sales Trainee with Tex-Tube in 1982 and progressed to the position of General Sales Manager of Tex-Tube heading the commercial organization from 1987 – 1995. In 1995 Lone Star Steel and Tex-Tube Company established a commercial alliance agreement whereby Lone Star took over the commercial responsibility for the sales of all API products for Tex-Tube. Mr. Fisher became an employee of Lone Star and took over all sales responsibilities for Line Pipe for the combined mills of Lone Star and Tex-Tube. Mr. Fisher served in this capacity from 1995 – 2007 rising to the capacity of Vice President Line Pipe Sales. During this period Lone Star Steel established commercial alliances to market Line Pipe with six mills in addition to the Lone Star Steel mill. U. S. Steel purchased Lone Star Steel in June 2007 whereby Mr. Fisher worked for U. S. Steel in the capacity of Manager, Line and Standard Pipe Sales from July 2007 – January 2008 prior to his departure.
Mr. Fisher received a bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Texas Tech University in 1980. Mr. Fisher served on the Southern Gas Association Associate Members Managing Committee culminating as Chairman from 1996 – 2001. Mr. Fisher has served as the Chairman of the Line Pipe Manufacturers Group / National Association of Pipe Coating Applicators (NAPCA) from 2002 – 2008. Mr. Fisher is a member of the National Association of Pipe Distributors and has served on the Education Committee from 2003 – 2008.
Management - Tubular Technology
Bowman A. Urech Mr. Urech joined Lone Star Steel as a sales trainee in the management program. He served in ever increasing roles of responsibility during his 27 years with Lone Star culminating in the role of Vice President Technical Services where he served until the time of U. S. Steel’s acquisition of the company in June 2007. He traveled the world representing Lone Star Steel in product acceptance and manufacturing technology initiatives. He is perhaps one of the most experienced OCTG and Line Pipe engineers in the industry, having visited nearly every OCTG/Line Pipe producing mill currently in operation. He is equally well known among the oil and gas company customer base having prepared thousands of OCTG string designs for engineer colleagues over the years.
Mr. Urech received his Bachelors in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas in 1981. He has served on many API work committees and industry organizations over the years. He also held the important responsibility of representing Lone Star Steel to API as the sole vetting member on all matters of standards and specifications.
Management – Finance and Information Technology
Steven L. Jaggers Mr. Jaggers has 28 years of experience in various financial management capacities, most of which were in the oilfield service industry. This includes the last 17 years with Lone Star where he last served in progressively increasing levels of responsibility, including its Vice President of Finance and Information Technology prior to leaving in July 2007. Before joining Lone Star Steel, his previous experience included 8 years with KPMG.
Mr. Jaggers received his Bachelor of Science – Accounting (1978) and Masters of Business Administration (1979) from Louisiana Tech University. He is a certified public accountant and member of the AICPA and Louisiana State Society of CPA’s.
